What maintenance does a refrigerated truck body require?

Outlines inspections, cleaning, repairs, and service practices that preserve thermal performance, sanitation, and equipment reliability.

Refrigerated Updated

Maintaining a refrigerated truck body involves both the body itself and the refrigeration equipment. While the refrigeration unit follows the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule, the truck body should be inspected regularly to preserve its thermal performance.

Routine inspections should include door seals, hinges, latches, insulated panels, flooring, roof joints, drainage systems, interior liners, lighting, and cargo restraint equipment. Damaged seals, punctured panels, or water intrusion can reduce insulation effectiveness and increase refrigeration workload.

The cargo area should also be cleaned regularly to meet sanitation requirements, particularly in food and pharmaceutical applications. Cleaning helps prevent contamination while allowing operators to identify damage that may require repair.

Following both Morgan’s body maintenance recommendations and the refrigeration equipment manufacturer’s service schedule helps maximize equipment reliability, reduce energy consumption, and maintain consistent temperature control throughout the truck body’s service life.
